Choosing your college major may just be one of the most important decisions of your life. In terms of far reaching consequences, the years you invest in your education will determine your choice and subsequent success in a particular career. To get more information on different majors and their subsequent career options, there are several places and people to turn to. These include the course catalog from your college, your teachers, tutors, academic advisors, and your classmates and alumni. Also refer to the career center at your college. Career counselors at these centers often have a wealth of information at their fingertips you can take advantage of. They can offer assistance in terms of major choices, career options, internships as well as job placements. Finally, get out there and try things for yourself before making a final decision. Attend some lectures, pursue internships and jobs that interest you for more hands-on experience and keep talking to people who have already made the same choice that you are planning to. You can check out the free career plan program offered by CollegeAmerica. This shall give you an idea of how the career plan programs work.

When I graduated from college, I found it difficult to find a job. I'm lucky enough now to have a job at a staffing company, Hollister Staffing (www.hollisterstaff.com). Of course is can be more difficult to find a job without a degree, but they are out there. I agree that if a candidate has the knowledge, skills and drive, it opens the door to more opportunities. Feel free to check out our website for help in any job search (we have a lot of great resources) hopefully it can help!
