If you are among some of the unfortunate ones that find themselves looking for a job in today’s market, then it is no surprise to you that there is not a strong demand for employees today. Maybe you have a job and are concerned about cut backs in pay or hours. The fact of the matter is, for a lot of people regardless of what the economy is doing, there is more month left at the end of their money.

We all have heard the saying, "Don’t put all your eggs in one basket." That is definitely something we should re-learn in today’s economy. Gone are the days of giving your life to a company, building the long term relationship that allows you to have security and the company to have a dedicated and committed employee.

In today’s market it is about bottom lines and turning a profit! Which is okay in some sense, but what about your bottom line, what about your profitability? We simply don’t have anyone looking out for our interests and needs.

So it is important that we become diligent in learning how to diversify ourselves. Some people re-educate themselves in more than one career field. Some people work multiple jobs. A lot of people turn to some type of home base business hoping that maybe that can be the answer.

The truth is there is a lot of competition out there. There are also a lot of scams as well. As a matter of fact people fail at home base businesses just as much as someone starting a brick and mortar business. However, I believe a home base business is one of the best ways to diversify your income.

I share this truth with you to let you know two important facts in order to recession proof your income. The first; it is important to develop multiple streams of income and the second; if you want to start some type of home base business, it is important to be mentored and coached by someone who has a proven track record.

There is a similar relation to brick and mortar business. People who want to improve there chances of succeeding turn to franchising so they have a proven success formula, support and resources of someone coaching them and guiding them in their efforts. This almost always guarantees success.

The problem is most people don’t have the money to invest in a franchise and other things that are needed to start a successful brick and mortar business. However, with the internet today and the opportunity it gives there is a way to do business from home. The important thing is to find someone that has a successful blueprint that will coach you and mentor you.
